It is the tendency of my stash of blue Pilot G-2 07 roller ball pens (purchased from Staples in the supersized box) to travel from the desk drawer in my office to my shirt pocket to my bedroom dresser where they collect in a stack and are unavailable for use in the office. Pentropy is always increasing.
I have umbrella drift. Mornings are often rainy, so I carry an umbrella into my office. In the afternoon, it is no longer rainy, so I walk back to my car without an umbrella. After awhile, I have an office full of umbrellas that I must walk to in the rain.

My dad used to practice what he called "pen saturation theory." The idea is to buy so many pens and leave them scattered in every area where you might need them that there is always a pen available for use. Actually, technically I think the theory was to reach a point where adding one more pen would cause a pen to precipitate to the floor.

Bruce, I think that's complementary to pentropy. Even if I saturated my office with pens, they would still flow homeward.
