Hopeful

What do the FAR forms look like to the hiring committees? When I try to review/print to proofread, the form comes up in a format that seems not very easy to read. Is that how it looks to the committees? And do they get hard copies of the forms/CVs, or is all the reviewing done online? Silly questions, I know, but judging from past years' commenting on this and other blogs, no detail is too trivial to start stressing about...

Hopeful:

The AALS sends an email notice to the hiring chair, informing the professor that the distribution set of FAR forms is available (we can expect this email, with respect to the first distribution, on or about August 12). The hiring chair uses a name/password to access the distribution set at the AALS website. Viewing can be done online (and searches can be done by various fields), but the sets also can be downloaded in printable form (and that is how I prefer to conduct my initial review). Each form will print out (in legible form) on 8.5" x 11" paper. The forms within each distribution set are assembled by the AALS in alphabetical order (by a candidate's last name), rather than in the order received by AALS.

I anticipate approximately 600-650 forms in the first distribution, 90-120 forms in the second distribution, and 75-100 forms in the third distribution.

I hope this info helps ease your mind.

Has the first FAR distribution occurred? Any comments or insights?
