Each year, the ABA Section on Legal Education gives the Kutak Award to the person who "meets the highest standard of professional responsibility and demonstrates substantial achievement toward increased understanding between legal education and the active practice of law.” The award honors the late Robert J. Kutak, a distinguished member of the Section’s Council.
This year's winner is Bob Walsh, a professor (and the dean emeritus) at Wake Forest School of Law. Walsh served as dean from 1989 to 2007 and has been one of the most active leaders of the ABA's Section on Legal Education for many years. Among other things, he co-founded the ABA's Seminar for New Law Deans. Perhaps even more importantly, he steered Wake Forest Law through a period of substantial growth in programs and prestige.
Congratulations Bob!
