I don't know the answer, but Gaslight is my favorite Joseph Cotton movie (with Shadow of a Doubt a close second). I will be interested to see how he is portrayed in Me and Orson Welles when it hits Netflix.

None of these individuals have won an Academy Award.

Lance McMillian

Or even been nominated.

Lance offers the answer I sought. Shocking, isn't it (at least in some cases)? The current issue of Entertainment Weekly (Feb. 12/19) at pages 72-73 (sorry, no link) places these and others on a list of twenty notable stars who never earned an Oscar nomination. Christopher Plummer probably would have been on the list, but for his nomination this year (THE LAST STATION)!

I was most surprised by Maureen O'Hara. HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY. MIRACLE ON 34th STREET. THE QUIET MAN (!!!!). THE PARENT TRAP. Wow. And don't you deserve a nomination for playing John Candy's mother???? (ONLY THE LONELY)

Eric Fink

The Third Man is a brilliant movie and among my personal favorites, not least for the lilting theme song -- the best-selling recording of Zither music ever!
