Better yet, these comments on the paper, lifted from the comments section at Robin Hanson’s Overcoming Bias:
Anon: “It’s somewhat unhinging to realize that there is an economist studying these things in Italy, and his name is Fabio.”
Bejeebus: “These communities undergo all the drama/gossip/dynamics that can be seen in any such community. It’s not that different from Linux User Groups.”
Several years ago I was in New Orleans to present a paper at the Southern Economics Association meeting, and was amused to learn that there was a national swingers convention in town that weekend as well. At the time I thought this was a coincidence. Perhaps I'll have to reconsider.

Lol. Many years ago, Law & Society had its annual conference in Miami. All the common areas were crowded with, shall we say, curvaceous women in small bikinis and high heels, and tattooed, well-muscled guys. I was pretty early in my career, and kept thinking, “wow, people said the culture at L&S was really different from ALEA, and boy were they right!” Turned out there was a hip-hop DJ conference in the same hotel.
