According to a recent blog post, Columbia Pictures may have officially ended its relationship with Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi with respect to the popular Spiderman movie franchise. There have apparently been some creative differences about the fourth proposed film. There is also talk of re-booting the franchise and going back in time to a teenage/high school version of Peter Parker. Don't know how I feel about this, but to my mind Spiderman 3 didn't live up to the previous movies, so maybe it's a good thing? Thoughts anyone?
They picked Marc Webb (based on his name?) to direct the new Spider-Man, and I think that he did a great job with "(500) Days of Summer." I'm not sure how his skills will traslate from a low budget romantic comedy to a big budget comic book movie, but I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. And as long as Sam Raimi keeps making great horror movies like "Drag Me to Hell," I won't be upset that he's done with the Spidey franchise, especially becase "Spider-Man 3" was a big let down.
