Chief Judge Robert Henry of the 10th Circuit will become Oklahoma City University's 17th president next July when OCU's president Tom McDaniel steps down. OCU is very, very lucky to have Judge Henry, who's served on the 10th Circuit since 1994. Before becoming a circuit judge, Robert Henry was dean at OCU's law school. (I am very fortunate that he hired me back in 1994, for I had a wonderful seven years in Oklahoma and worked with a terrific group of faculty and students. You may recall I wrote a little about this last spring when I saw Judge Henry at a symposium at Duke. And I wrote some about my last trip to Oklahoma City in 2008.) And before that Judge Henry was Oklahoma's Attorney General.
According to OCU's press release, Judge Henry said, "The opportunity to return to Oklahoma City University as its President and CEO is an exciting challenge that my wife, Jan, and I wholeheartedly embrace. The future of Oklahoma City is bright and OCU is an important part of that future. The University has great faculty and continues to attract gifted students from around the world, including my son Josh, who is a theatre major. So on a personal and professional level, Jan and I look forward to joining the OCU family that includes our friends Tom and Brenda McDaniel."
I'm sure everyone in Oklahoma City is most excited by this news, most particularly my former colleagues at OCU's law school. I'm going to try to make it out to Oklahoma City in July for the inauguration ceremony.
