A big shout-out to Elmo, Cookie Monster, Grover, Big Bird, and all of our other friends over at Sesame Street. The television show, which premiered on this date in 1969, turns 40 today. Happy Birthday!

This is a delightful show, and it brings back great memories of childhood and "Sunny Days."

Indeed. But how is it that public broadcasting *ever* has to raise money again now that all of these characters have been franchised to the moon?
