Yesterday, Villanova Law School Dean Mark Sargent resigned his position. According to the information we've received, he stated that he stepped down for personal and medical reasons. Professor Doris Brogan, who has been the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Villanova since 1992, has been named Interim Dean starting immediately.
Lots of decanal transitions at Catholic law schools. Duquesne. DePaul. Now Villanova.
Update: More details via this link.
Dean Sargent has enjoyed great success at Villanova and will, I am sure, be missed. He has also been an inspiration to many of us, outside Villanova, who are engaged in the conversation about Catholic legal education. Best wishes to him.

FWIW, and contra the other Rick's comment, Notre Dame remains an engaged, open, and distinctively Catholic community of scholars and students.
