After rebranding Kentucky Fried Chicken first as "KFC" and more recently "KGC" (for Kentucky GRILLED chicken), Yum! Brands Inc, the parent company of KFC and Taco Bell, is also moving towards a rebranding for Pizza Hut. Some restaurants will now be called simply "The Hut". I love the comments posted in respose to the announcement - see here.
Well, the re-branding's working for Berkeley Law, so why not Pizza Hut? Though I do have such fond memories of Pizza Hut that I'm not sure I'll like the name change. But then again, after a few years, who'll remember the difference?

Am I the only one who reads "the hut" and immediately associates it with "Jabba"? Not the correlation Yum has in mind, I assume.

Jacqui, as you may have seen on television last night, this "rebranding" was the topic of one of Conan's jokes: apparently Long John Silver's will rebrand itself simply as "the John."
And I agree with David. When I hear "the hut" I'm thinking Jabba (and Carrie Fisher). OK, so I'm stuck in a time warp.

Talk about time warps, I keep thinking of "Pizza, the Hutt" from Spaceballs...
