It started a few years ago. We discovered that more young people were getting their news from satirical news shows - oh, and late night comedy shows - than from traditional news sources. Stewart, Colbert, Leno, and Letterman became the new Cronkites, helping Americans understand politics and world affairs. Still, serious wonks relied on traditional news sources -we liked newspapers and public radio! But the world continues to tilt towards comedic news. There's Bobbie Battista, the CNN reporter who moved to The Onion (and helped create an incredibly funny news report about Franz Kafka Airport.) And now Harvard Professor Elizabeth Warren, who is chair of the TARP oversight panel, is giving a particularly cutting analysis of the bailout - where else? - on The Daily Show. Additional story below (April 16 entry).
Hey Dan, why hasn't Colbert or Stewart invited any of the Loungers to be a guest? I thought I was hanging out with the "cool" kids!
