The AAUP's new report, On the Brink: The Annual Report of the Economic Status of the Profession 2008-09 is here. The news isn't particularly good. You may have heard...endowments are crashing. Paul Caron has extracted faculty salary information for top universities here. Suprising news from Paul? UNC has the third highest average full professor salary of any state university. I had the (apparently wrong) sense that things were somewhat tighter in Chapel Hill. Do you feel like burning up entirely too much time by looking at average faculty salaries at every university?
