Well, as you prepare for Thanksgiving (and in my case the property exam), it may be time to think about Zora Neale Hurston's often-overlooked play, "De Turkey and De Law." It's ab out two men who come to blows over a turkey they each claim to have shot. Shades of Pierson v. Post--or Heppingstone v. Mammen, if you're up on the latest trends in in teaching capture.
I went looking for an old case involving turkeys to talk about here; alas, what I found of interest was mostly references to the country Turkey. Maybe one of these days I'll talk about the image of Turkey in the antebellum judicial mind. Now that's a way to get into the minds of judges.
