One of my neighbors erected six Trump campaign yard signs illuminated with powerful flood lights for night time display. He tended to those signs like they were his children, pruning the weeds around them on a weekly basis. Shortly thereafter, he erected an industrial sized pole with the Confederate flag.

For various reasons, I have to remain apolitical. So I couldn't put up HRC signs. To counter him, I put up an African National Congress flag above my garage. One of my other neighbors told me that he "liked the John Deere flag." (They are roughly the same colors.) I did not dare tell him what it really was...

so you support the ANC but are offended by a Confederate Battle Flag. really, wich one of those is supported by African Countries currently participating inthe modern day slave trade, sex trafficking, and pirating, while the other stands for people of ALL color and religions that fought and died for the Confederacy, yes there were blacks in the ranks of the CSA, free and slave, and jews, First woman on currency? SC, Lucy Pickens, first Jewish member of a presidential cabinet? Judah Benjamin, CSA, first integrated units with SAME PAY, CSA, First slave holder in US, black man from VA, slave ships owned by Jewish merchants and other countries NONE not a single southerner imported slaves, nor did any come over under the CBF,- can't say the same for the US flag, who allowed slavery for over 70 years under that flag, Lincoln- your poster boy, wanted to send all of them to Liberia, see how well those fared that went back, even today, stop being offended by everything and take some time to read and learn history, its a lot more complicated that the south wanted to keep slavery. and if anyone thinks that was the whole premise for the war then they are uneducated sloths, devoid of any willingness to want to learn. and probably are still under the spell of the Saul Alinsky loving HRC,and fwiw, her's a little tidbit of history about Lincoln and his cause of war,https://www.theguardian.com/world/2000/feb/08/rorycarroll?CMP=share_btn_fb

The Democratic Party is trying to erase THEIR Racist History. They are afraid if voters begin to learn of their Racist & White Supremacist past, they will lose voters.

The Democratic Party is the party of White Supremacist. They fought against abolition & the 13th Amendment. The Republican Party was created for the sole purpose of abolishing slavery & create equal rights for blacks.

The Democrats not only allowed, but imported African slaves to be sold for 32 years (1776-1808) & flew the American Flag on ALL slave ships. The Democrats authorized slavery for 89 years (1776-1865).

The Democrats were the Southern Army in the Civil War!!

Gov. George Wallace was a Democrat!!! In 1962 he won on a platform of racial segregation and was backed by the Ku Klux Klan. His inaugural speech concluded with the infamous line, "Segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever."

Wallace led the "stand-in the schoolhouse door" to prevent two black students, Vivian Malone and James Hood, from enrolling at the University of Alabama, until the National Guard intervened.

In 1965, George Wallace (D) as Governor used State & Local authorities to violently stop Martin Luther King's march from Selma to Montgomery. He even Ran as a Democrat for President TWICE on a platform of segregation!!

The Democrats brought us the Jim Crow Laws & the Black Codes. The political enforcement of Jim Crow was entirely in Democratic hands. The Ku Klux Klan functioned as the paramilitary wing of the Democratic party.

Republican President Dwight Eisenhower passed the Civil Rights Act of 1957 and sent troops to Arkansas to DESEGREGATE schools. President Lyndon Johnson (D) acting as Senate majority leader blocked the GOP’s 1956 civil-rights bill, and gutted Eisenhower’s 1957 Civil Rights Act. Democratic senators filibustered the GOP’s 1960 Civil Rights Act.

Woodrow Wilson (D) segregated the entire federal civil service

Franklin D Roosevelt (D) appointed a member of the KKK to the Supreme Court

John F. Kennedy’s (D) apathy toward civil-rights legislation; allowed the rise of Robert Byrd, a member of the KKK, to the post of Democratic leader in the Senate in the 1980s. The same Robert Byrd that HILLARY CLINTON is seen kissing. She said, "Today our country has lost a true American original, my friend and MENTOR Robert C. Byrd.”

President Jimmy Carter's (D) peanut plantation had 18 slaves working on it. Yet, the Democrats elected him as President, & made him the Head of the Democratic Party.

Obama’s great-great-great-great grandfather, George Washington Overall, owned two slaves who were recorded in the 1850 census in Nelson County, Ky., the Baltimore Sun reported in 2007, and Obama’s great-great-great-great-great-grandmother, Mary Duvall, also owned slaves.

The Democratic Party preaches keeping the masses as slaves to the Government instead of being self sufficient. The oppression of blacks is taught through Welfare where it is more economical to have a child & be on welfare than to work a minimum wage job. They also get free healthcare without working. Instead of educating yourself & finding a better job with health benefits, the government will reward you by giving you free healthcare. The people become slaves to the Democratic Party by having to always vote Democrat to save their way of life on welfare, with food stamps, free healthcare, & free housing. Anything else is a threat to their existence. So, they obey the Master & vote Democrat, because the Master will care for them, in return, they will vote for & support the Master

My quest is an impossible one. I grind daily to try and make those who won't listen, that by honoring the heritage given me is in no way intended to suppress or offend anyone. My ancestors did not give what they gave to continue slavery. I do not honor their service to anger black people. Tell me why a small sticker of anything pro-South on my vehicle gives anyone the right to assault me or damage my car? We Confederate descendants have no issue with blacks or any other race, yet we face conflict daily because we are who history made us. We do not have intentions to suppress anyone and we only seek the same , to not be suppressed in our remembrance of our forefathers.

Where did you ever dredge up such raciest blather? Fact is that huge swatches of Trump supporting Red States are dependent on Federal funds for their entire economy. The outflow of money from productive, innovative and creative Blue States and folks of all stripes to resentful rural and exurban voters is staggering.

Can't argue with the data....

eddie grey,

Your post was illuminating and it dove tails with my experience at a Stuckey's near Memphis, Tennessee where I stopped to refresh, relax and refuel. At that Stuckey's a few years back, there was a section devoted to Confederate themed items and another devoted to Black Christian themed items. Both co-existed side by side in the same space. I asked the Clerk "what sold better?" She told me that they both are good sellers. (about the same) and very profitable for her boss.
