Hiram Chodosh, the dean of the University of Utah College of Law, has been tapped as the new president of Claremont McKenna College. He will leave Utah and move to the LA area this summer. This is a very notable move both because Claremont is an elite school and because it is a liberal arts institution with no law school. Chodosh does not have a Ph.D.
Chodosh arrives in the aftermath of a sadly familiar law school problem: the former dean of admissions at Claremont resigned earlier this year after fabricating undergraduate admissions data.
There is no surprise here that Claremont a new president who is a former law school dean without a PhD. Claremont's President for over a decade, Pamela Gann, was formerly Dean at Duke Law and has no PhD. She will be the College Professor of Legal Studies when she steps down.
