The folks at Loyola LA have started up a new faculty blog, Summary Judgments. It's got a nice look and feel and of course they've got the faculty (including folks like Rick Hasen, Laurie Levenson, and Michael Waterstone) to back it up. It joins a number of other faculty blogs including Chicago, Marquette, Chicago-Kent, Houston, Georgetown, Toronto, Louisville, UC Davis, and perhaps others.
As a quick survey of these faculty blogs shows, they're a challenging venture. Some, like Marquette, have managed to keep the ball rolling nicely. Some, like UC Davis, mix unique content with faculty posts from other venues. And then there are those which feel a bit like ghost towns - the nice old buildings standing empty, everyone having left.
I really believe that these faculty blogs are a worthwhile endeavor. They're just tough to pull off. I wish the Loyola folks a lot of luck in this project.
