Earlier this month, Oceanview Publishing released Thrillers: 100 Must Reads, co-edited by David Morrell and Hank Wagner. The book examines 100 thrillers (beginning with a story penned in 1500 B.C., and concluding with a book published in 2003 that became one of the greatest bestsellers in recent history) through essay commentaries written by some of today's most popular writers in the genre (e.g., David Baldacci, Lee Child, Tess Gerritsen, Sandra Brown, Steve Berry, Gayle Lynds, etc.). I'm currently reading, and enjoying Hell Bent by William Tappley. (http://www.williamgtapply.com/hellbent.html) It's the last (at least the last published before Tappely died last year; I understand there's another one coming out) of a series about a Boston lawyer, Brady Coyne. Tappley was also a well-regarded author on fly-fishing, which is how I discovered him. Anyway, the book has some good lawyer-client interaction, and a few ethical issues, that make me think I might use it for "color" next time I teach PR.
